EDITORIAL: In a small world, every citizen matters

The mayor of Kandahar City, Mohammad Omer, is one of the officials in the Afghani delegation. One of the issues he’ll soon have to face is avoiding a Taliban resurgence in his city upon the departure of U.S. forces – in effect, learning how to live safely in an unstable world.

We are going about the same task here at home. That reality demands recognition as we struggle to define the world we live in today, and how best to meet it. Because if the Town of Colonie can play a part in rebuilding Afghanistan, then it stands to reason individual citizens can play a role in defining and honing that mission to a positive end.
