continued The Society’s Marketing and Development Director Nancy Laribee said some people don’t like to visit the organization’s animal shelter because they think it will be sad or depressing. The exposure allows potential adopters to see the animals outside, having fun, which makes the experience more positive.
“It’s a different environment, which is helpful” said Laribee. “Many get adopted right then.”
The day will include hayrides and tractor rides for the kids, along with live entertainment. There will also be raffles and prize giveaways, with the proceeds going to benefit the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society.
“It’s a chance for residents to gather at a common focal point and intermingle with one another,” said Lansing. “They can see what’s going on with the neighbors and purchase some local goods.”
The fifth annual Family Day at the Capital District Farmers Market in Menands will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission and parking are free to all attendees.
