Hockey: Shaker/Colonie goes on the offensive

Malatesta and Egan tally twice to lead Jets past Monroe-Woodbury

Giovanni Malatesta and Kevin Egan each scored two goals to lift Shaker/Colonie past Monroe-Woodbury 7-3 in Saturday's non-league hockey game.

Malatesta tallied twice off Egan assists to give the Jets (2-1-0) a 2-0 lead. Steve Rehfuss scored at the 2:04 mark of the second period, and Egan added a goal at 6:27 to put S/C in control.

Mark Matson scored with 50 seconds left in the second period, and Egan and Jordan Vetrone added third-period goals for the Jets. Goaltender Zach Dignum had 21 saves.

Shaker/Colonie hosts Clinton (Section III) Friday at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
