COLONIE — Shaker/Colonie put an end to Saratoga's bid for an undefeated Capital District High School Hockey League season by beating the Blue Streaks 5-2 Friday at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Jordan Vetrone and Mike Mineau scored in the second period to give the Jets (7-1-2 league, 10-2-3 overall) a 3-1 lead. Ryan Flynn scored off a pass from twin brother Matt Flynn with 9:13 left in the third period to pull the Blue Streaks (11-1-0, 14-3-1) within a goal, but Kevin O'Neil tallied with 3:57 left to seal Shaker/Colonie's victory.
Mineau finished with two goals, and goaltender Zach Dignum made 27 saves for the Jets. Ryan Flynn and Tyler Bullard had the Blue Streaks' goals.
