— “The revenues are where we expect them to be,” said Williams. “We took over with no history to compare numbers. We hope to have the same success in our second year.”

Williams said it is difficult to predict revenues because Saratoga Springs is a tourist attraction and a lot depends on what kind of year the city has and how many tourists are in for events such as track season and Saratoga Performing Arts Center events.

With the increase in activity and calls, especially with the new ambulance activity, Williams said the department is also looking into the possibility of body armor, something that is being considered in surrounding municipalities. He referenced the recent shooting of firefighters in Webster.

“First responders are getting shot at,” he said. “The addition of body armor is something we are thinking about.”

Williams said the Saratoga Springs Police Department has a tactical team and his department is considering becoming the first responder tactical team for the police department.

“We have the paramedics and EMS with the proper training to make this a reality,” he said.

Williams emphasized the possibility of the body armor and the tactical team is currently only in the planning stages.
