Girls basketball: Ravena's comeback falls short

Demand, Deguire lead Watervliet to sixth title in seven years

— With Reboer and Hotaling limited to a combined total of seven points, other Ravena players stepped up in the second half. Shelby Preston scored seven points including a key third-quarter three-pointer, and Jasmine Powell added six points to help the Lady Indians trim Watervliet's lead to 39-35.

"It's been a trademark with this group of kids. They have tremendous heart," said Stott. "I knew they would keep fighting."

But when the time came, it was Watervliet that made the plays to win the Sectional championship.

"We knew it wouldn't be easy," said Demand, who was named the Class B tournament's most valuable player. "We knew they would play hard."

Demand finished with 16 points, and Deguire contributed 15 points for Watervliet. Olivia Vosburgh had 12 points for Ravena.
