Baseball: Queensbury beats Shaker one day before Sectionals

Four-run third inning propels Spartans

— Several hours after the Section II baseball playoff seeding meeting at the Boght Baseball Complex, two of the more highly-regarded teams in their respective classes played each other in their final regular season game.

Queensbury (No. 2 seed in Class A) scored four runs in the top of the third inning on its way to beating Shaker (No. 4 seed in Class AA) 6-2 in Monday night's contest.

Zach Parsons and Phil Wettersten each collected doubles for the Spartans (15-5), while Chad Sinko singled twice for the Blue Bison (14-6).

Both teams begin Sectional play Thursday. Queensbury hosts Amsterdam in a Class A quarterfinal game, while Shaker welcomes Schenectady to Latham for a Class AA quarterfinal match.
