— “I thought we played well for the first 25 minutes,” said Kinnally. “We had a couple of nice opportunities in the first 15 minutes that we didn’t finish.”

Albany (15-2-1) became the first Big 10 team to reach the Class AA Sectional finals by virtue of a fortuitous bounce late in the second half. Denis Leon’s direct kick bounced off Shen goaltender Danny Juers’ hands, and a Plainsmen defender accidentally kicked the ball into the goal to break a 1-1 tie.

Emmanuel Ishimwe tallied early in the first half for Albany, and Chris Schmid scored in the second half for Shen.
