Boys volleyball: Bethlehem heads back to state tournament

Eagles take six out of seven sets to advance past Oswego and Suffern in regionals

— Bethlehem made certain Suffern got no closer than that, as the Eagles closed out the match and the regional title by winning the fourth game 25-11.

Mahar had 49 assists for Bethlehem in Saturday's regional final.

In other volleyball news, the Voorheesville girls team punched its ticket for Glens Falls by winning Saturday's Class C regional in straight sets over Section VII's AuSable Valley in Gloversville. The Blackbirds won their three sets 25-20, 25-16 and 25-8 to reach the state tournament for the fourth year in a row.

The boys' portion of the state volleyball tournament takes place Friday at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Bethlehem begins pool play at 2 p.m., and the top two teams advance to the state finals at 6 p.m. The girls' portion of the state tournament starts Saturday.
