GLENMONT Glenmont Elementary School PTA's Project Playground received a $10,000 grant from CSXT Corporation.
Maurice O'Connell, regional vice president of CSXT, presented the check to PTA president Meryl Schwalb and Glenmont Elementary Principal Laura Heffernan at a recent ceremony attended by Glenmont Elementary students.
"We are completely thrilled to have CSX(T) on board as our title sponsor for the Project Playground campaign," said Schwalb. "Their generous support will assist us in building a playground that will serve students at our school and in the community."
"CSXT is proud to support charitable organizations that align with our community focus," said O'Connell. "Children deserve a safe and fun place to play and explore outdoors. We are excited for this project to get underway and are happy to support Glenmont's efforts."
The Project Playground campaign has raised $78,000 of the $100,000 it needs to replace the current Glenmont Elementary playground. Funds raised by the PTA will be combined with money from the Bethlehem Central School District bond that was passed last year. Installation is planned for the summer of 2014.
The Glenmont PTA is seeking public support for the last phase of fundraising through a March 1, 2014 gala.
