— The annual Pumpkin Festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, and will feature Brooks BBQ, a vendor fair and activities for children. The Pumpkin Patch sale is open every day until Oct. 31. The patch is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m., all month long.

The church will be selling about 3,000 pumpkins in various sizes and colors.

This year, a prize-winning pumpkin was taken from the pile by a church member and placed on a tree stump to remain, unsold, for the entirety of the event as a memorial to Ben. With bowed heads, the group stood around the truck for a quiet moment before unloading began.

“Let’s have a moment of silence for Ben,” said Stott.
