Albany meets Suburban Council North Division champion Shenendehowa in Thursday’s semifinals at Colonie Central High School. The Plainsmen (14-2-1) have nine shutouts this season and have allowed a total of eight goals.
Thursday’s other Class AA semifinal pits Suburban Council South Division champion Guilderland (13-4-0) against Shaker (14-3-0). Guilderland defeated Niskayuna 3-0 in Saturday’s quarterfinal game, while Shaker escaped with a 1-0 quarterfinal victory over LaSalle Friday.
A corner kick got Guilderland’s offense going against Niskayuna (10-7-1) early in the first half. Connor O’Brien sent the ball into the box, and Chris Czekay knocked it into the net for a 1-0 Dutchmen lead.
Kledis Capollari made it 2-0 late in the first half with a long strike, and Connor Rubin added a goal in the final three minutes of the second half to give the Dutchmen their final margin of victory.
Elsewhere, Voorhees-ville (11-5-1) met Ichabod Crane (14-0-0) Monday in a Class B quarterfinal game. The Blackbirds defeated Greenville 1-0 in last Thursday’s opening round on Sean Nolan’s goal.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (9-7-2) was eliminated from the Class B playoffs by Stillwater on penalty kicks Friday.
