Boys swimming: Gunnar Zemering aims for another banner season

Defending state champion enjoys additional role as team leader

— The young talent has helped Bethlehem win three of its first five dual meets, although Shen ended the Eagles' three-meet win streak with Friday's 101-77 victory. But what Bethlehem is aiming for is Sectional success.

"The meets are important, but what we're looking at is training for Sectionals," said Dergosits. "We're really working toward being at our best at the championship meet."

That includes Zemering, who knows he will face a stiff challenge from his rival, Shen's Ryan Gordon.

"He's a really talented swimmer, and I just try to compete with him," said Zemering. "We'll see what happens at Sectionals and at states."
