Bethlehem Police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole collections from Glenmont Community Church on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Police were contacted Sunday and, through their investigation, later arrested Consuelo T. Leonard, of 32 Fox Hill Road, Wallkill, and charged her with grand larceny, a felony.

Police said that shortly after Leonard had approached church members looking for financial assistance, one member noticed that approximately $1,900 collected during an earlier service was missing. Leonard was taken into custody without incident and the money was recovered, according to police.

Leonard was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to Albany County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail. She was scheduled to reappear in court on Nov. 17.

Anyone with similar incidents or information is asked to contact the Behtlehem Police Department at 439-9973.
