Edward Hughes, 31, of 2506 Turner Ave., Schenectady was arrested by the Glenville Police on the charge of grand larceny in the third degree.

According to a Jan. 24 press release, Detective William Gallop was investigating the theft of rims and tires that were taken off of two new Subaru's at Captialand Motors on Route 50 Glenville, worth more than $10,000. About a week after the wheels were stolen, wheels similar were found for sale on EBAY. Further investigation revealed that this same person selling these wheels had also sold wheels similar to those stolen at other local auto dealership over the past few months. Gallop investigated the person holding the EBAY auction, making contact with Hughes offering to purchase the wheels, an offer that Hughes agreed to. Shortly after, a search was conducted of Hughes' house and all eight wheels were recovered.

Hughes was charged with one count of grand larceny by Gallop and is also facing additional charges from at least three other local agencies for stealing wheels off of cars at a number of dealerships in the Capital District, according to police reports. Hughes was arrested and committed to the Schenectady County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 bail.
