UPDATE:
According to the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District's Web site, school groups will be marching in the Flag Day parade tonight. The Burnt Hills Business and Professionals Association has not announced a cancellation as of 5:10 p.m.

With the threat of thunderstorms in the Capital Region this evening, the jury is still out on whether the 8th Annual Flag Day Parade in Burnt Hills will be held.

The parade, put on by the Burnt Hills Business and Professionals Association, has 97 groups marching as of this morning, said BH-BL School District Spokeswoman Christy Multer, including several groups from the school district.

Multer said the district will make a decision whether to send its groups to the parade by 5 p.m. today. Check www.bhbl.org or www.bhblbpa.com for updates as the day progresses.

“We’re going to treat it the same as any school event,” said Multer. “It’s going to be a question of wait and see.”

As for the parade itself, Rick Reynolds, of the BHBLBPA, said that the decision will likely be made at the last minute.

"If the conditions look dangerous, we will cancel it," he said, advising that for families marching or observing, attendance might be a personal call.

"If you have kids in it, it's kind of a parental judgment," he said.

The parade is scheduled to step off a 7 p.m. It proceeds down Route 50 through the intersection of Lake Hill Road. Fireworks are held after the parade at Burnt Hills High School.

There is no planned rain date if the parade is canceled.

"It's very hard to do a rain date for a parade because it's hard to schedule everyone," said Reynolds.

Last year, 1,500 people marched in the parade.
