Timothy Mather Harris, M.D., 77, of Glenmont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at St. Peters Hospital. Born January 9, 1935 in New York City, he was the son of the late Rhoda E. Harris. Tim was raised in Albany, graduated from Albany Academy in 1953, Amherst College in 1957 and Albany Medical College in 1961. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, the former Helen Alexander Suderley, were married in 1961 in Coeymans. From 1965-67, Tim and Helen lived in El Paso, Texas where Tim was a doctor in the U.S. Army. He went on to complete a pulmonary medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado in 1968, before settling in Colonial Acres, Glenmont. He worked at Albany Medical Center, Albany Medical College and in private practice in the field of pulmonary medicine. A member and governor of the American College of Chest Physicians, Tim was a leader in his field. Tim was also an avid reader, fisherman and accomplished piano player. Tim's greatest love, however, was his family, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He looked forward to holidays, vacations and any special occasion where he would be with his family. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Helen Suderley Harris; his children, Heather (Marc) Moss of Denver, Colo., Tim (Andrea) Harris of Waitsfield, Vt., and John (Maureen) Harris of Slingerlands; six grandchildren, Parker and Dylan Moss, Tim and Ali Harris and Kathleen and Libby Harris; nieces, Kim Cross, Margo Johnston and Elizabeth Losee, and a cousin, Linda Harris. A special thanks to the many doctors, nurses and health care professionals who helped Tim battle through many years of health problems. The funeral will be private and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 315 S.
