Glenmont - Ronald L. Whiteman, 77, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mildred (Goes) Whiteman. He graduated from Coxsackie Athens High School and attended Cornell University. Mr. Whiteman began his career at Agway in their sales training program. He later worked for Sun Oil for ten years and joined Marshalls Garage in Ravena for 18 years where he was sales manager. Mr. Whiteman was a long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he also served as Elder and President. He belonged to the Albany Yacht Club for 30 years and served as Commodore for five years. He was an active boater and numerous trips along the Hudson River and Lake Champlain as Captain of the "Macadamia".

He is survived by his wife Ethel (Kleinke) Whiteman, brothers, Brian (Mary Margaret) Whiteman and David (Patty) Whiteman, all of Athens, NY; his special godson, Adam Biszick and his canine companion, Sabrina.

Affectionately known as "Uncle Ron" to many young people, he is also survived by four generations of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital, Dr. Robert Kelleher and to Rev. David Nuss for their care and concern.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Relatives and friends were invited.
