DeMaria, Dominic E. DELMAR Dominic E. "Dom" DeMaria, 80, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Dominick and Antoinette (Graziano) DeMaria and attended Cathedral Academy. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Dom worked with his two brothers at the former Albany Custom Floors for more than 30 years. The brothers worked together and never had an argument. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. Dom loved farming with Frank Renaud, snow-plowing his neighbors' driveways and taking care of all the seniors on the street. He stopped into church every day for more than 53 years to say the Rosary. In 2006, Dom received the Good Samaritan Award for Volunteer Service. He had assisted with the weekly Rosary/Communion service at the Good Samaritan Adult Home for more than 10 years, caring for the residents and filling the bird feeders. He was a kind, quiet leader, soft spoken and a true giver of his time and talents. Dom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Matta) DeMaria; His son, Dominic J. "Nicky" (Kristine)' grandchildren, Jamie and Meagan; his siblings Frances (Andrew) Aiezza, Joseph (late Eileen) DeMaria, and Marie (late Joseph) Choppa; also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony DeMaria, and niece, Judy Choppa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 17th, 2012 at 10:30 am in St Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 10 am. The family wishes to thank the parishioners of the st. Thomas the apostle Church, neighbors, friends, and medical staff for their kindness and support through Dom's illness.
