Connections to local food becoming more popular
“In New York State the number of markets has risen from 235 in 2000 to 500 in 2010.That’s a 113 percent increase. What’s more New York State ranks second in the nation for the number of markets. The farmers market is a place where farmers can get the best price for their goods by selling directly to the consumer and cutting out the middleman,” Laurie Ten Eyck, New York field representative for American Farmland Trust.
