RAVENA — All four schools in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District will partner with Active Schools to host “Take Your Parent to PE Week” Monday, Sept. 25 through Friday, Sept. 29.
The week-long event aims to give parents a much better idea of about the activities their children are doing during their physical education classes.
“This is part of the effort to create better relationships with families in the school district,” RCS Superintendent Brian Bailey, Ed.D., said. “It will be happening at all four schools in the district.
Parents are encouraged to pick a date and a time to join their child’s class. Since this is a learn by doing event, parents should be ready to fully participate in each activity with their child should they choose to attend. If they are unable to actively participate for any reason, they are still welcome to come and observe. Parents will need to bring valid ID. They also must check in with the school office on the day of their visit during the class period before their scheduled time to ensure enough time for check in.
Active Schools hopes to turn “Take Your Parents to PE Week” into an annual event.
The company aims to help children achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day.
The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 22. To sign up for this event, visit https://rebrand.ly/peweek2017. For more information, call your child’s school at (518) 756-5200, and follow the prompts to reach the appropriate building.
