COLONIE — The Town of Colonie is hosting its annual Harvest Festival on Sunday, Sept. 11, at The Crossings on Albany Shaker Road.
The Harvest Festival, which has been held for almost a decade, is Colonie’s largest free, town-wide event, said Laura Archambault, one of the event organizers.
Archambault, who has been working on the festival committee for four years, said that more than 5,000 people have attended previous Harvest Festivals, including seniors and young children.
Representatives from the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center will host interactive events. Fifteen vendors from the Colonie Farmers Market will be there as well, along with new craft vendors. There will be magic and puppet shows, as well as pony rides and an appearance from the Albany Police Department horses. Clowns will be crafting balloon animals for all ages.
Sponsors for the Harvest Festival this year include Capital Region Landfill Inc., County Waste and Recycling, Berkshire Bank and CDPHP.
There will be more than 20 student volunteers rom Christian Brothers Academy, South Colonie High School and Shaker High School helping out. Also, there will be a shuttle on the premises provided by Colonie Senior Service Centers that will drive patrons to the park’s front entrance.
“It’s a wonderful event for families to get together,” Archambault said. “It’s a wonderful day.”
