County does veterans a FAVOR

If you're a veteran in Albany County, the Albany County Veterans Bureau wants to do you a favor.

The bureau will be issuing Return the FAVOR (Find and Assist Veterans of Record) identification cards to eligible veterans on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joseph E. Zaloga Post at 4 Everett Road Extension in Albany.

The program scores veterans a discount on purchases or services at participating merchants (more than 65 so far).

By bringing their DD form 214 to the post on Saturday, veterans already enrolled in the program will receive a Return the FAVOR photo ID to use for the discount. Veterans who haven't enrolled can enroll on Saturday at the Post, too.

Veterans who can't make the Saturday enrollment still have a chance to benefit. Honorably discharged veterans in Albany County should visit the Albany County Veterans Bureau on the ninth floor of the County Office Building at 112 State St. in Albany, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon to inquire about enrollment.

More information about the Return the FAVOR program and a list of participating businesses can be found at www.albanycounty.com.
