The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has completed a draft master plan and draft environmental impact statement for John Boyd Thacher and Thompson Lake state parks. A public hearing plan will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, at New Scotland Town Hall, which is located at 2029 New Scotland Road.
The master plan outlines State Parks’ vision for potential capital improvements, operational enhancements and natural and cultural resource stewardship within Thacher and Thompson Lake state parks for the next 10 to 15 years. Factors such as the availability of funding, the need to invest in rehabilitation of existing park infrastructure, and other pressing needs in the entire state parks system will influence the possibility and the timing of the improvements.
Copies of the draft plan and draft environmental impact statement can be reviewed at the Regional Office, Park Office and the agency office, along with the following libraries:
- Voorheesville Public Library, 51 School Road, Voorheesville
- Berne Public Library, 1656 Helderberg Trail, Berne
- Guilderland Public Library, 2228 Western Ave., Guilderland
