Saratoga gets spooky

Halloween is just around the corner and there's plenty of festive events for kids, parents and even pets happening all over Saratoga County.

The Town of Clifton Park will host its Halloween Parade at the Clifton Common on Friday, Oct. 28, at 4:30 p.m. Families and children are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes and join the parade. Following the parade, Northstar Church will serve free hot dogs, drinks and chips and kids can play in the Bounce House and view a Jonesville Fire Department truck up close.

Witches will take to the streets of Ballston Spa on Friday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. for the 6th Witches Walk to benefit the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. Last year, 170 witches took over the town. Registration is $20 and required by Oct. 22. For more information or to register contact Carol Lang at 884-9352.

Clifton Park Center wants to see your best costume. The Halloween Costume Contest on Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. will feature three age categories with three winners in each. Prizes are $50 and $25 gift certificates and the grand prize is free wings for a year at Buffalo Wild Wings. Registration is at the Spriit Kiosk located in the food court.

Pets can get in the Halloween spirit with Sloppy Kisses' Canine Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at Clifton Park Center. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. The dogs will parade into the mall for their costume contest in Center Court of the mall, which is near to the Regal Cinemas. Registration will take place between 7 and 7:30 p.m. at the Sloppy Kisses Store at Clifton Park Center and participation is free.

Saratoga Springs Public Library is celebrating zombies for a full week from Oct. 24 to 28. Highlights include zombie cupcake decorating, zombie makeup workshop and more. For a full list of events visit sspl.org.
