Now that I've got your attention — if you have any expired, unused, or unwanted over-the-counter and prescription drugs you'll have a chance to properly dispose of it.
Medications can be brought to the front entrance of Niskayuna Town Hall, located at One Niskayuna Circle, on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service is free and anonymous and there is no paperwork to fill out and no questions asked.
From the town's press release:
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, abuse, and could be causes of accidental poisonings. Also, it is no longer recommended that persons dispose of unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash. Both of these methods could pose potential safety and health hazards.
The Niskayuna Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Niskayuna Central School District and the Niskayuna Community Action Program are helping to provide the opportunity for disposal.safety and health hazards.
