Section II swim meet primer

In advance of this week's Section II Division I boys swimming and diving championships, here is a list of those who have already qualified for the state meet and those who are in contention to do so with their top times of the season:

Already qualified

200-yard medley relay: Shenendehowa 1:38.46

200 freestyle: Reid Zyniecki (Guilderville) 1:46.92

200 individual medley: Nick Hooper (Shen) 1:59.15

50 freestyle: Ryan Gordon (Shen) 21.66 and Gunnar Zemering (Bethlehem) 22.24

100 freestyle: Gordon 47.07 and Zemering 48.39

500 freestyle: Emerson Wells (Niskayuna) 4:52.19

200 freestyle relay: Shen 1:29.46

100 backstroke: Hooper 54.38

The Section II swim meet begins Thursday with the diving competition at Ballston Spa High School. The scene shifts to the Shenendehowa Aquatic Center for Friday's preliminaries, followed by Saturday's championships.
