NYS Supreme Court judge strikes down SAFE Act challenge

New York State Acting Supreme Court Justice Thomas J. McNamara on Thursday, April 10, ruled the NYS SAFE Act does not violate the state Constitution, state Civil Rights Law and the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The Bethlehem Central graduate came home last week to visit with family and stop by local schools before work began for the Top 12 contestants. State Police arrest 59 protestors at Capitol

State Police arrested 59 protestors at the State Capitol on Thursday, March 20, after 14 groups gathered to protest "against economic and social inequality issues" in the state, according to police. Protestors were arrested after allegedly blocking the entrance to the Executive Chamber.

Telephonic 'town hall' on economic development set for Feb. 28

U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko, D-Amsterdam, and Empire State Development President and CEO Kenneth Adams will held a "telephone town hall" Friday, Feb. 28, at 1:30 p.m., to highlight federal and state economic development efforts and hear input from Capital District residents on creating jobs.

Thacher Park Final Master Plan

This documents starts with New York state's Final Master Plan for John Boyd Thacher State Park and then has all figures that accompany the plan. After Figure 16B is the Master Plan Map and Trails Map for Thacher Park. The last and largest document is the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the master plan.

Community Caregivers formally announced on Wednesday, Oct. 30, that Kathy Burbank will serve as its executive director starting Monday, Nov. 18, The company in a press release said Burbank is "well-known for being devoted to the community" through her six-year tenure at the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce.

Thacher and Thompson Lake master plan public hearing announced

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has completed a draft master plan and draft environmental impact statement for John Boyd Thacher and Thompson Lake state parks. A public hearing plan will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, at New Scotland Town Hall, which is located at 2029 New Scotland Road.

Voorheesville Middle School students’ usage of electronic devices is being tightly controlled under a new pilot policy developed by school administrators. Jim Franchini, principal of Voorheesville Middle School, sent an email through the district’s School News Notifier system Friday, April 12, morning detailing the new policy.

Colonie Restaurant Week to Run March 18-24, 2013

The Colonie Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Colonie Restaurant Week, a weeklong event highlighting the eateries in and around Colonie. The week begins on Monday, March 18, 2013 and runs in participating restaurants until Sunday, March 24, 2013. Each participating restaurant will prepare a special three-course meal for only $20.13.
