Shenendehowa Adult Community Center October events

Surviving Cancer support group
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center offers a Cancer Survival Support Group on select Fridays at 11 a.m. Facilitated by Meaghan O’Connor, RN BS MBA CLNC, this support group addresses informational needs of people being treated for cancer. Cancer does not need to be confronted alone. While support of family and friends is very important, joining a group of people who have similar needs can be beneficial in order to achieve the goal of a healthy and fulfilling life. Learn and benefit from the support of others on the road to recovery. Please contact the Center at 383-1343 for information on how to register and the support group schedule.

Janet’s Dream Quilt raffle
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center is holding its annual quilt raffle. This beautiful quilt, hand made by our seniors, won the blue ribbon and Best of Fair at the 2016 Saratoga County Fair and is on display at the Center. Raffle tickets are on sale at the Center, and you do not need to be present to win. Drawing will be held on Dec. 12. Second- and third-place prizes are also available. Contact the Center at 383-1343 for more information. This event is open to the public.

Senior singers needed for chorus
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center’s Senior Chorus is looking for singers. The group meets every Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Center. The 2016-17 season started in September. No experience is necessary, and there are no auditions. The chorus performs in May and December at various assisted living facilities and at the Center. Center membership is required.  For more information, please call the Center at 383-1343.

Basket Party
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center will hold its annual Basket Party on Oct. 8 at noon. Tickets are $7. Bring your ticket and receive 10 free auction tickets. Sandwiches and dessert will be included. Come join us for a fun afternoon. This event is open to the public, and tickets must be purchased in advance at the Center, as space is limited. For more information, please contact the Center at 383-1343.

Greg Nazarian’s Dance Band
On the second Saturday of every month, Greg Nazarian holds a dance at the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center. The next dance will be Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per person, $5 for members of the Center. Proof of membership is required to receive the discount. Come and enjoy this wonderful event. This event is open to the public.

Orchestra concert
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center will hold an orchestra concert on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. Come and enjoy the beautiful music of these talented musicians. This event is free and open to the public. Contact the Center for more information at 383-1343.

Brian Zapel Dance
On the last Sunday of every month, Brian Zapel holds a dance at the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center. The next dance will be Sunday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 per person at the door. Come and enjoy this wonderful evening of dancing and entertainment. This event is open to the public.

Family and pet portraits
The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center will hold its annual Family & Pet Portrait session on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Photos will be taken by professional photographer Amy Sornberger, and all prints will be provided via disc. Advance reservations are required. For payment and general information, or to make a reservation, please contact Barb at 383-6370. This event is open to the public.
