Successful professional actors know that an audition isn’t a chance to get the work: It IS the work.
This four session class will encourage actors to use the “3 P’s”: Preparation, Playfulness, and Presence in developing an audition monologue. Actors will be asked to come with a two minute piece that they want to use as an audition piece. Part of the class will involve working in front of the other students and receiving feedback, part will be one on one with the instructor, and some of the time will be work in pairs.
About the Instructor:
Michael Burns, Mopco’s Artistic Director
Prior to becoming known primarily for improv, Michael enjoyed a career directing and teaching in the world of scripted theatre. The techniques covered in this class are based on the work of Meisner, Morrison, Spolin, and Stanislavski.
