The Mohonasen boys basketball team can’t catch a break these days.
Two days after a 46-39 loss to Guilderland in the Coaches vs. Cacncer Classic at Siena College, the Mighty Warriors (3-9 league, 4-10 overall) stumbled in the second quarter on their way to a 70-48 Suburban Council loss to Bethlehem Tuesday.
The game was tied at 13 after one quarter, but the Eagles (5-8, 5-10) went on a 20-4 run over the next eight minutes to take a commanding halftime lead.
Four Bethlehem players reached double figures in scoring, led by Corey Dente’s 12 points. A.J. Generali and John Morrill each contributed 11 points, and Jordan Sperber added 10 points.
Garrett Sisson netted 14 points, and Jonpaul Brown added 11 points for Mohonasen, which lost its third straight game.
The Mighty Warriors had no answer for Guilderland’s Ryan Ochs in Sunday’s game at Siena. Ochs scored 24 points to help the Dutchmen (5-7, 6-8) avenge a December overtime loss to Mohonasen.
Jeffrey Kruzinski scored eight points for the Mighty Warriors.
In other Suburban Council boys basketball action Tuesday, Niskayuna couldn’t overcome a 13-point halftime deficit in a 54-44 loss to Shaker in Latham.
Chris Bogdan scored 15 points, and Chris Hooks drained three shots from behind the three-point arc on his way to a 12-point night for the Blue Bison (6-7, 7-8).
Kyle Bayly and Peyton Houghtaling each had 10 points for the Silver Warriors (5-8, 7-8).
In a non-league game, Scotia-Glenville shook off some early shooting woes to defeat Johnstown 55-45 Tuesday.
The Tartans (8-2, 13-2) led 8-4 after the first quarter, but then they pulled away with a 17-point second quarter.
Tyler Ackley scored 18 points, and Terell Winney added 14 points for Scotia-Glenville. Ian Yost led Johnstown (5-5, 8-7) with 22 points.
