The Freihofer’s Community Walk will have a kick-off breakfast on Wednesday, March 10, at The Crossings of Colonie’s meeting room to discuss fund raising strategies for the organizations involved.
Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the breakfast will run from 8 to 9 a.m., according to event organizers. There is no fee to participate.
The Annual Freihofer’s Community Walk is slated for Saturday, June 5.
The Freihofer’s Community Walk is a unique fundraising opportunity that’s really too good to walk away from, said Event Director George Regan, in a statement. `The baking company supplies all of the food, entertainment and logistics. All non-profits have to do is form a team from their supporters, volunteers and board members and then put their pledges to work for their organizations.`
Attendees will get a `toolkit` with marketing, fundraising and registration information that comes inside a Freihofer’s chocolate chip cookie box. It comes with `customizable posters and brochures, information sheets, agreement forms, and a color route map,` according to information from the event’s organizers.
`With small staffs, tight budgets, and limited resources, development professionals are challenged to find new ways to bring in revenue in 2010 while cultivating relationships,` said The Stakeholders Foundation CEO Catherine Hedgeman. `The walk is a great way to raise both awareness and money for many causes without worrying about the logistics or incurring any overhead.`
The Stakeholders Foundation is helping organize the event recruit charities.
The three-mile-run kicks off on Madison Avenue. There are 27 non-profit organizations registered for the breakfast. Last year 51 participated with a total of 572 Walkers.
