An independent Republican and grassroots organizer from Ballston, Patrick Ziegler, formally announced he was joining the race for Congress in the 20th Congressional District on Wednesday, March 3, at The Good Times Restaurant on Ballston Lake.
Ziegler will seek the Republican endorsement and if chosen could run against current Democratic representative Scott Murphy or former Saratoga County Assistant District Attorney David Harper.
Ziegler is a Town of Ballston Committeeman, a volunteer state coordinator for HuckPAC and one of the founders of the NY Liberty Council – a coalition of grassroots organizations committed to Constitutionally-limited government, fiscal conservatism and local control over issues, according to a release.
Ziegler said in a release that he is intimately familiar with working-class America through his work as an independent agent in Saratoga County and will work to bring common sense solutions to Washington.
`The past few years have been challenging at best for my neighbors in the 20thCongressional District,` said Ziegler.`To add insult to injury, the Pelosi/Murphy Congress has proven incapable and unwilling to address the issues most important to middle America in a Constitutional, fiscally responsible manner. I can assure the residents of this district that the ‘common person’ will not have a more dedicated advocate in Washington than me because I share in their experiences and understand their concerns.`
