In its second year, Glenville Business owner Alan Boulant hopes to raise over $20,000 to benefit an incurable disease and help a local businessman’s daughter.
The Glenville Deputy Town Supervisor, in conjunction with the Glenville Business and Professional Association, will host a Hannah’s Hope Fund Raiser on March 19, from 12 to 11 p.m. at 144 Freemans Bridge Road in Glenville to benefit Hannah Sames, who was diagnosed with Giant Axonal Neuropathy in 2008. GAN is an orphaned genetic disorder that has no cure and no ongoing treatments available at this time. Faced with no cure for the disease, the Sames have worked to spread the word online at and Boulant and the Glenville Business and Professional Association worked last year to raise $20,000. A number that Boulant hopes to build upon this year.
We’re hoping to be close to what we did last year, said Boulant.
The fundraiser will include a lunch and dinner of corn beef and cabbage, baked fish and home made macaroni and cheese, with both silent and live auctions that include sports memorabilia and Solid Surface Craftsman counter tops, provided by Boulant. A $100 VIP hit and run baseball clinic with former New York Mets and New York Yankees pitcher Dwight Gooden will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. and attendees will be able to meet the former Cy Young winner from 6:15 to 7:15 at the Solid Surface Craftsmen location on Freemans Bridge Road. Free rides from the event will be provided by Premier Limo.
A $25 donation for the fund is asked from event goers for research towards a cure for GAN. For more information, visit www.hannahshopefund.org
