The Times Union Center will increase security levels back to post 9-11 levels beginning with the MAAC Tournament, March 5 through 8.
According to a press release from the arena, security will be conducting pat downs, bag searches and metal detection on all patrons entering the building at every event. Fans from different schools will be divided into separate locations in the Times Union Center, with signage on the concourse level and at the box office, directing fans to the appropriate sections. Once the schools playing the contests are announced, color-coded maps will be available online and at the box office indicating the fan sections for each school.
In addition to increased security, floor seating at the MAAC Tournament will be removed in an effort to keep fans from rushing the floor at the end of the tournament, according to a March 4 press release.
Attendees of the MAAC Tournament March 5-8, the Section II Championships March 9, the ECAC Hockey Championship March 19-20, the NCAA Hockey East Regionals March 26-27 or musical performer Daughtry on March 28 should be prepared for the increased security and allow for time entering the building. `
