Tai Chi Classes
St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church
Mondays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. through May
Join Tae Kwon Do brown-belt, John Jones, as he leads this weekly class. Tai Chi is a collection of movements/postures, providing exercises in balance, coordination, physical control and regulation of breathing. To register, call Westview Senior Center at 482-2120, St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church at 489-4442, or just come to the class.
Crochet Club
Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m.
Henrietta Bohanon, Westview volunteer, is the facilitator of the class. The crochet class has really taken off, and we are very proud that our participants have made a large assortment of winter hats, scarves and blankets for the Veterans Albany Housing Coalition. They have done so well that we are now in need of yarn. If anyone would like to donate yarn of any color to the crochet club, please call 482-2120. We truly appreciate your contributions.
Sewing Class for Beginners
Thursdays, April 7 through May 26, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., continuing after lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
A new sewing class will be starting on Thursday, April 7, which will meet for eight sessions. The class will be creating spring blouses as their sewing project during these sessions. The sewing department can supply fabric; however, we ask that you bring your own pattern if possible. All seniors are welcome. Instructor: seamstress Alena Taylor. Laughter Yoga
Wednesday, April 27, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Larry Steffler, BSW, CLYL, invites you to laugh your way to less stress and more joy. No previous yoga experience is needed. All fitness and mobility levels are welcome. Laughter yoga is just deep breathing, the willingness to let go and reconnecting with our childlike nature and laughing.

The warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often dismissed as inevitable parts of normal aging. If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection is the key to improving quality of life for anyone affected by memory impairment. Attend this interactive workshop to learn the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s disease where we separate myth from reality and address commonly-held fears about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Hear from people who have the disease, and find out how to recognize the signs in yourself and others. Maura Fleming, Albany County program manager for Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern New York, will be the presenter.

Westview Senior Center hosts weekly Wednesday Night Dinners. The followsing is the schedule for April:
April 6: Dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.
April 13: Happy Hour, 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.; dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.; “Sister Act,” enjoy the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s sung by women from Westview Senior Center: 6 to 7 p.m.
April 20: dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.
April 27: Happy Hour, 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.; dinner, 5 p.m.; bingo, 5:30 to 7 p.m., 10 cents per card and $1 for the jackpot.
To make your dinner reservation, call 482-2120 by the date of each dinner by 11 a.m. Suggested contribution is $4.35.
