TROY — Lactose intolerance be damned.
Melt N’ Toast, the Capital District’s first major grilled cheese festival, will take place this fall on Saturday, Nov. 18 from noon to 4 p.m at the Takk House.
The festival showcases the Capital District’s culinary and craft beverage landscape, featuring the creativity of local food vendors paired with regional craft beverage producers. Whether it is stacked with classic or artisan ingredients, the combinations are endless, and everyone has their own way of enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich.
Ticketholders will taste delicious chefs’ choice grilled cheese creations, paired with a featured local craft beverage selection, and vote for your best Melt N’ Toast combo. Also be ready to “meltn’ groove” with live DJ talent.
Participating restaurants include Slidin’ Dirty, Sunhee’s Farm + Kitchen, Muddaddy Flats, Dinner Demon, the Cheese Traveler, Savoy Taproom, Merv’s Meatless, and Fresh Greens at the Park. Judges include Yelp’s Daniel Berman, CBS 6’s Emily DeFeciani, and a mystery judge — two awards will be given, one for Judge’s Cheese and People’s Cheese (voted on by attendees). Beverage producers include Nine Pin Cider, Chatham Brewing, Rare Form Brewing, The Beer Diviner, and MJM World Imports.
Tickets are available for either $40 for general admission, $70 for VIP/all you can cheese and can be purchased at meltntoastny.com. The event is presented in support by All Over Albany and Yelp Albany and hosted by Relentless Events.
