SLINGERLANDS – The 91-year-old man severely burned when his Font Grove Road home caught fire on Dec. 29, has died.
Nazzerine Donato was burned across the upper half of his body, and he died on Saturday, Jan. 13, according to an obituary published on the Times Union website. A graveside service is scheduled at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20.
After neighbors and first responders extinguished Donato, he was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. His dog was taken to the Delmar Animal Hospital where it was euthanized.
The home was wrapped in petroleum-based shingles and there was little firefighters could do. It was a complete loss.
