ALBANY — MOVE Music Festival puts together a discussion panel, including a great lineup of music, every year that contains some of the most credited music industry specialists.
This year’s festival is no exception.
Industry specialists will speak before an audience at the Hampton Inn in downtown Albany on Saturday, April 28, at 5 p.m. Speakers include recording engineers, talent managers, radio personalities and venue operators:
Nancy Tarr: Music Industry Professor at SUNY Oneonta
Tarr is currently a music industry professor at the University at Oneonta. She has worked at Paramount Pictures, RCA Records, Arista Records and the Recording Industry Association of America. She was the music coordinator on the movie “8 Mile”, worked as a session singer in Los Angeles and appeared in both the Lilith Fair and H.O.R.D.E. festivals. Tarr runs the Tarr Music Co. where she handles artist and music related services.
Joe Blaney: Producer, Mixer and Recording Engineer
Blaney is a New York-based independent producer, mixer and recording engineer. He has contributed to an impressive range of projects with an eclectic mix of artists.
By the late ‘80s, Blaney established a reputation as a mixer, mixing songs on albums for Keith Richards, Prince, The Ramones, Blues Traveler, Guadalcanal Diary, Tom Waits and The Neville Brothers.
Going into the ‘90s, Blaney shifted his focus towards producing. He produced albums for Soul Asylum, Jack Bruce, Bernie Worrell, Lucy Brown and The Beautiful. And, as the decade waned, he worked with producer John Leventhal mixing songs by Roseanne Cash and Shawn Colvin.
Blaney’s list of accomplishments includes recording two gold records, including Colvin’s Grammy Award-winning single, “Sunny Came Home.” He is also associated with Joey Ramone, the B-52s and Lauryn Hill.
David Bourgeois: Artist Manager and Producer
As an artist manager and producer, Bourgeois operates Bridge Road Entertainment & White Lake Music & Post. Bourgeouis’ clients include Jocelyn & Chris Arndt, Universal Music Group, Discovery Communications, Nickelodeon, HGTV, TLC and numerous others.
Peter Iselin: Talent Manager and Music Consultant
Iselin is an upstate New York-based talent manager and music consultant. His Los Angeles-based management clients include composer/music supervisor Jon Ernst (who counts among his most recent credits VH1’s hit series “Hindsight” and A&E’s “Big Smo”) and composer Jeff Toyne (the Weinstein Company feature “Dirty Girl,” several Lifetime Original Movies, etc.).
As a music consultant, Iselin has cleared the rights to and facilitated licenses for countless music compositions and master recordings for film/TV/Internet projects and consumer marketing campaigns. Peter also handles all day-to-day licensing and business affairs for the high-end production music library Q-Factory by Robert Etoll.
DJ Supreme, aka Rodney B. More: DJ, Radio Personality, Tech Specialist
DJ Supreme, also known as Rodney B. More, is a native of Baltimore, Md. An accomplished DJ, he has been behind the turntable for more than 20 years. His ”The Supreme Experience” show kicks off its 15th year on Hot 99.1, Townsquare Media’s Albany Hip-Hop Station blending music, comedy and “infotainment” afternoons from 3 to 7 p.m.
The panel will also include Steve Theo, co-founder of the promotion and marketing agency Pirate!, and Ronan Daly, festival and venue operations and production.
MOVE Music Festival’s annual panel discussions are an opportunity for attending performers to network and gain varied perspectives of the multi-faceted music industry. During each session, participants will hear insight from different backgrounds and advice regarding the development, management and progression of their own music careers.
