ALBANY – Hartley’s Encore frontman Luke Malamood pulled at the collar from his black polo shirt as he sat behind his keyboard under the Parish Public House spotlight on Friday, June 1.
“I know it’s a sticky [night] in here,” said Malamood. “We plan on making it stickier.”
The late spring night was heavy with humidity outside. A quick thunderstorm would roll through the Capital City as Hartley’s Encore played. At one point, Jeff Nania, the band’s saxophone player, wiped the sweat off his brow. He was playing double-time, having also shared the stage with the opening act, Nautilus. The heat seemed to provide an appropriate setting to pay homage to the soulful rhythm and blues out of New Orleans.
