ALBANY — A mid-afternoon storm thunderstruck the vendors and city staffers setting up under Interstate 787 for Alive at Five, but the rain soon cleared way for a sunny — albeit, sticky — night for music last night, on Thursday, June 29.
It was a night for the blues. The B.B. King Blues Band with Tito Jackson headlined a double-bill also featuring The Age. It was Jackson’s first performance following the death of his father, Joe Jackson, who died on Wednesday. Tito and his brothers were launched into stardom at an early age as members of The Jackson Five back in the late ’60s. Fronted by a young Michael Jackson, the band received commercial success with hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There.” It was their father, Joe, who pushed his kids into the entertainment business.
