NEW SCOTLAND — At around 8:45 a.m. this morning, a pickup truck rear-ended and pushed a car forward into a Bethlehem Central School District bus, which was carrying six Eagle Elementary School students.
Bus number 334 had slowed to begin turning right onto Lowe Copeland Hill Road when the pushed car hit its rear passenger side, both of which were traveling east on Route 32. According to a press statement sent out by the school, neither the students nor the bus driver were hurt in the accident but paramedics initially tended to them.
According to trooper Kerra M. Burns of Troop G in Latham, New York State Police troopers from New Scotland responded to the scene at around 8:50 a.m. They found minor damage on the bus.
Bethlehem CSD Transportation Director Cindy Jurewicz also arrived at the scene and a substitute bus came to continue sending those students to the school.
The students were also then checked out by the school nurse to follow “district protocol” while their families were informed of the morning’s accident by the elementary school.
Both the pickup truck and car drivers were transported to the Albany Medical Center and each appeared to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Burns noted that the former driver, however, was cited for following too closely to the car.

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. — The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and CDPHP wrapped up the third season of the CDPHP Cycle! riding season with more than 41,000 trips taken andClear out the bus stops on Rt. 9 Watervliet/Latham. Kids are standing in road! The stop right ahead of the circle had about a dozen people balancing on iced over roads. A little further down a mother was body shielding her toddler while they waited for the bus...once again in the road because the stop was snowed in. Shameful!!
