COLONIE – On paper, the undefeated Bison should have won 75-0. But, The Raiders came to play and made Shaker earn the Colonie Cup — and town bragging rights for another year.
The 8-0 Bison did wear Colonie down during the teams’ final regular season game of the year. They were up 7-0 after one, 17-7 after two and 24-7 after three with a final score of 31-7.
Joe Toutai scored on a short run for Shaker to open up the scoring, then Ravion Burt scored from 24 yards out in the second. Both extra points by Jack Leito were good.
Shai Young got Colonie (2-6, 2-6) on the board with a seven-yard run, and then Leito hit a 25-yard field goal.
In the third, Toutai scored his second of the game and then quarterback Connor McHugh hit Riese Ninstant in the corner of the end zone on a 13-yard pass to round out the scoring and keep The Colonie Cup at Shaker High.
