COLONIE — Police officers are stationed at Colonie Center after receiving an anonymous 911 call reporting an armed individual was headed to the mall.
According to police, the call initially came in at the Schenectady County Unified Communication Center at about 10:53 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. After making the report, the caller abruptly hung up.
Colonie police responded to the mall and met with management to put a safety plan in place which includes, “out of an abundance of caution,” leaving officers stationed at the mall.
According to police, no lockdown of the mall was instituted but some individual stores opted to close on their own.
The origin and intent of the 911 call is being investigated, according to police.
