ALBANY — A 71-year-old Bethlehem man is under arrest for allegedly possessing and promoting child pornography.
According to the State Police, on Aug. 25 troopers out of the Latham barracks, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, arrested Michael D. Cathers.
The arrest followed an investigation stemming from a cyber tip received by the state Internet Crimes Against Child Taskforce and the execution of a search warrant at his residence.
He is charged with the felonies of promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
He was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
