Each year, there are 10 million new diagnoses of dementia. Of those, Alzheimer’s Disease and Lewy Bodies Disease are the two most prominent types of progressive dementia.
The Golub Family Memory Enhancement Center at Daughters of Sarah offers a warm, welcoming, respectful, and enriching environment. The accepting culture of The Golub Family Memory Enhancement Center is built around the unique needs and identity of its residents. To help residents increase their level of understanding and engagement, and to decrease their levels of anxiety and frustration, the Buddies Forever dementia communication program, founded by Erin Bonitto, M.S., A.D.C. Founder and Lead Coach of Gemini Consulting was introduced at Daughters of Sarah.
A comprehensive communication training program, Buddies Forever provides a deeper understanding of what happens within the brain of an individual with dementia. Using a myriad of verbal and non-verbal exchanges, the ultimate goal is to ensure pleasure, purpose and peace for all residents and their families.
As part of the Buddies Forever program, therapeutic exercises and activities help those with memory loss to reconnect with the world, find a renewed sense of purpose for themselves, and ease their worry. The Golub Family Memory Enhancement Center, provides supervised opportunities for residents to do the things that help them feel like themselves again. For example: a former secretary might enjoy typing on a typewriter or putting papers in a file cabinet; a former bank teller might enjoy rolling coins; or an artist might enjoy painting.
It is of utmost importance that any loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Bodies or other types of dementia are happy, safe, and well cared for.
At The Golub Family Memory Enhancement Center at Daughters of Sarah we care with open arms. We listen with a warm embrace.
