Colonie Police Chief Steven Heider said that a person of interest is in custody following a stabbing in Colonie earlier this week. No motive or connection to the victim has been established. On Monday, Aug. 11, at approximately 6 p.m., the Colonie Police Department received a call about a person asking for help in the wooded area adjacent to Watervliet Shaker Road just west of Wall Street. Upon police arrival, officers found a 50-year-old female victim lying in the wooded area just in from the road. The victim was suffering from stab wounds and was transported to Albany Medical Center by Colonie EMS. She is in stable condition, and her injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 30 years old. The Colonie Police Department is asking that anyone who was traveling on Watervliet Shaker Road in the area of Wall Street and New Karner Road, or was in the parking lot of any businesses on Wall Street between 5:30 and 6 p.m. and saw the victim, or a possible suspect to call the investigations office at 783-2754. The victim was wearing tan pants and a blue or green colored shirt. The victim is a white female, 50 years of age, and has light colored hair.
