A McDonald’s employee allegedly stole money from the store’s safe and then pulled the fire alarm in the stock room, according to police. Bethlehem police and the Elsmere Fire Department responded to McDonald’s at 132 Delaware Ave. in Bethlehem for a fire alarm Saturday morning, Nov. 22. Upon arrival, fire fighters confirmed there was no active fire and the alarm had appeared to have been pulled. Store managers soon told police that money appeared to have been stolen from the store’s safe totaling $110. Money in the safe was recounted several times and front register drawers were checked, according to police. Police said while store managers were reviewing footage in the back office, Ryan Chandler Mann, an employee, repeatedly interrupted them. Mann eventually requested the key to a register in the front of the store, because he claimed he had to give a customer change. Mann allegedly told store managers he found the money in the back of the drawer Police said security footage “clearly shows Mann taking money from the safe.” There is also security footage of Mann allegedly taking money out of his pocket and then placing it into the register he claimed to have found it. Poice said Mann admitted to taking the money and pulling the fire alarm.
Police arrested Mann, 22, of 23 Henry Johnson Blvd. Apt. 2B in Albany, and charged him with falsely reporting an incident in the first degree, a felony, and petit larceny. Mann was arraigned and remanded to Albany County jail with bail set at $2,500.
