The general election is over, and I am grateful and privileged to be re-elected to serve our town and county as the county legislator from Glenmont and Delmar. Thank you to my long-standing supporters from my old legislative district for your continued confidence in my ability to represent you with honesty and integrity. And thank you to my new constituents for putting me over the top.
I am sure that most of you are just as grateful as I am to see the signs disappear, along with the political mailers and phone calls. The season of campaign politics is over, and the time for governing commences. Over the past four years, I opposed my own party’s wrong-headed leadership in the county legislature. Having staked my campaign on defeat of the sham Albany County charter proposition, I am as gratified by your overwhelming rejection of it as I am by your confidence in me – along with newly elected Bethlehem county legislators Joanne Cunningham and Bill Reinhardt – to work to make it right.
