Glenmont Elementary School recently hosted a very successful fundraiser for the Chris Porter Scholarship Fund, raising over $6,200. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior at Bethlehem Central High School. Participants tried their skills at a hoop shoot and minute to win it games. In addition, there was a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, and 26 silent auction baskets. The baskets were generously donated by current and retired Glenmont faculty and staff, BCTA, BOU, Double V Stables, Dave Hostig of the Normanside Country Club, Different Blend Bakery, and numerous others. Romo’s Pizza of Glenmont provided our volunteers with dinner, and the Glenmont PTA supplied the prizes for the events. One highlight of the evening was the presence of Chris’s mom, Mrs. Arlene Stoker, and her many friends.
We would like to acknowledge our wonderful community for their outpouring of support, as well as students and parents from all five of our elementary schools, the middle school, and high school. The evening was a heartfelt tribute to a beloved teacher who left us way too soon. If you were unable to attend, but would still like to donate, you can make your contribution at:
Many thanks to all.
